Peraton has always provided mission-critical cyber services to government customers, but now that the company has reorganized to dedicate an entire sector to cyber missions, it is clear that Peraton has entered a new phase as a major source of cyber solutions.
As part of its increased focus on cyber services and solutions, Peraton also is investing in the future cyber workforce. Peraton recently became a financial sponsor of Dakota State University (DSU)’s CybHER program, which provides resources for women to pursue careers in cybersecurity.
As part of the new relationship, Peraton is co-sponsoring two summer camps with the National Security Agency (NSA) for girls in middle and high school; sponsoring weekly conversations with industry executives; and funding scholarship stipends for DSU students. Peraton’s contribution will also provide CybHER with tools and equipment for state-of-the-art cyber facilities, educational conference fees, and networking opportunities for professional growth.
“It is not enough to build a strong cyber workforce,” said Jill T., Vice President of Growth, Global Defense & Security sector. “We must also ensure that we build a diverse cyber workforce that welcomes everyone with the interest and aptitude to make a difference in our national security.”
Six of DSU’s seven initial Peraton scholarship recipients are majoring in cyber operations. One of those students will join Peraton as a summer intern for a remote position that combines technical projects with outreach.
“I have always been passionate about encouraging kids in STEM and opening doors for the next generation, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds,” said Audrey M., Cyber Account Executive. “DSU is a gem of a school because of the academic focus on cyber, which is unique, along with their high-tech research and development center.”
