Making Their Mark: Interns Apply Educational Tools to Solve Real-World Challenges

Get excited! Our 2025 Summer Interns started on Monday, June 2, each bringing unique education and experiences to Peraton. The company’s co-op and internship programs are more than learning experiences—they’re opportunities for students to contribute to the technology that fuels the missions that protect our nation. Recently, two of Peraton’s Cyber Mission Sector interns were recognized by the customer for their exceptional contributions to the program’s mission.

“Congratulations, Abigail and Trisha, on your outstanding contributions,” said Dana Pittman, senior vice president, Talent Acquisition, Peraton. “The dedication, insights, and enthusiasm, and hard work these fresh perspectives bring to our workforce continue to make a lasting impact on customer missions.”

Social Scientist Intern, Abigail R., is a graduate student studying global affairs at New York University. With a concentration in transnational security and global risk, her educational background translates smoothly into her role at Peraton.

The customer recently presented her with a certificate of appreciation for her continued dedication and outstanding contributions. Abigail views all experiences as learning opportunities, saying “Some of my most valuable learning experiences have come from working on topics I initially knew very little about. Rather than being intimidated, I’ve learned to approach these tasks with curiosity and an excitement to dive deep. That’s where the real growth happens.”

Trisha K., a psychology and neuroscience doctoral student at Duke University, is gaining valuable real-world experience through her internship at Peraton as a Research Analyst. Within her role, she also works on multiple customers projects.

Her continuous dedication and quality work earned her a certificate of appreciation from the customer. She credits her success to her strong research communication skills, ability to work independently, and timely production of deliverables to her government and intelligence-focused audiences.

Throughout their internships, Abigail and Trisha gained invaluable insights that they are eager to share with future interns.

“I make the most of my role by asking thoughtful questions, approaching each task with genuine interest and curiosity, and seeking out opportunities to work with different team members across various regions,” said Abigail. “Lean into every opportunity to grow and expand your knowledge and skill base. It’s been a constant learning experience, and I’ve gained so much practical knowledge and perspective because of it.”

Trisha echoed the value of fully engaging in the Peraton experience: “Peraton is a great place to strengthen research and writing skills while working on meaningful, real-world topics. Stay organized, keep track of your sources, and always tailor your writing to the specific audience you’re supporting.”
