Peraton Advancing AI-Driven Technical Publication Workflows for NAVSEA

Apr 2, 2026

Peraton today announced the award of an Other Transaction Authority contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to modernize technical publication workflows for the Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community. Peraton will partner with Influence Apps, a small business specializing in advanced AI solutions, to deliver this critical capability to Program Management Ship (PMS) 408.

Under the contract, Peraton will provide PMS-408 with IRIS foundation pilot licenses and specialized subject-matter experts to design a customized, AI-enabled solution for modernizing technical manual creation and management. This effort includes delivering a comprehensive technical integration and customization plan to support future phases of development and enterprise-wide scaling.

Peraton’s interactive, real-time information system (IRIS) features an advanced agentic AI architecture that automates complex workflows. Peraton IRIS is:

  • On track to become FedRAMP IL5-compliant.
  • Operating at Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL9).
  • Helping NAVSEA shave off months of time using streamlined, AI-assisted workflows.
  • Automating critical functions, including data ingestion from multiple sources, intelligent classification and metadata enrichment, and automated report generation.

IRIS represents a fully operational, mission-proven system. This modernization effort will reduce manual burdens on EOD subject-matter experts, improve the accuracy and consistency of technical documentation, and ensure sailors in the field have access to the most current and reliable information.

“This award demonstrates Peraton’s leadership in applying proven AI and automation capabilities to mission-critical Navy challenges,” said Tom Afferton, president, Cyber and Intelligence Sector, Peraton. “By partnering with Influence Apps and integrating IRIS into the Navy’s EOD technical publication workflows, we’re helping accelerate modernization, improve operational readiness, and establish a scalable foundation for digital transformation across the enterprise. We are proud to support NAVSEA with innovative solutions that enhance both safety and mission effectiveness.”

The project leverages Peraton’s deep expertise in artificial intelligence, data integration, and enterprise workflow automation, combined with Influence Apps’ specialized capabilities, to help PMS-408 pioneer a next-generation digital approach to technical publications. This early-phase work will establish the technical foundation for expanded capabilities designed to scale across the Navy’s EOD community and beyond.
