Port San Antonio: From Logistics to Cybersecurity Centre

The Texan innovation campus’s reinvention has drawn in cybersecurity companies

San Antonio’s metro area is home to more cybersecurity talent than any other US city apart from the capital Washington DC, according to Greater:SATX, the region’s economic development organisation. Among the companies that recently set up at its Tech Port is Peraton, a Virginia-based national security company with about 18,000 employees that provides technical support to the Defense Health Agency.

Thomas Afferton, president of Peraton’s cyber mission, says that given extremely high demand for talent in the DC area, San Antonio is a “very good fit” for the company. “You have very mission-capable folks coming out with clearances that want to stay in that region,” he says.
