Truckloads of donated school supplies recently arrived at Operation Homefront offices across the U.S. for distribution to children of military families. At the Colorado Military Academy in Colorado Springs, 550 local kids got backpacks stuffed with supplies on August 3, while the Operation Homefront office in Sterling, Virginia is dispersing loaded backpacks from the 4,000 it’s stockpiled to 500-plus families attending a Back-to-School Brigade event on August 11, with more scheduled over the next few weeks. Our Colorado Springs volunteers also collected donated school supplies from local Dollar Tree stores weekly in July to add over 6000 items that were then sorted by our Centennial office team and delivered to Operation Homefront for their big backpack giveaway.
In Melbourne, Florida, the Peraton team’s generosity ensured no child was left behind, by delivering the essential supplies that enabled every last one attending the recent Orlando Back-to-School event to leave equipped with a filled backpack. The local Operation Homefront coordinator shared her appreciation, noting “the supplies the team sent over really saved the day – we were able to finish filling the bags, plus the extra backpacks donated by the Peraton team.”
With your generosity, our first Peraton-wide community outreach initiative was a great success in supporting Operation Homefront’s mission of building strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive – and not just struggle to get by in the communities they have worked so hard to protect, and that we call home.
